Ahoi o/,
Before writing anything else, here the long awaited and promised download:
Groovedown Alpha Download
Yyep, after a couple of months ( we didnt start right away, reallife problems, family, etc, etc… ), and a delay of 23h after our initial release date, we finally uploaded you GrooveDown 0.7.0
The first thing you will recognize is, that we moved away from uploaded.to You are now downloading the Archive directly from our server. This applies only to the java version though, since the older GrooveDown version will be rolling out anyway.
The second important thing you will have noticed is the appendix ‘ALPHA’. We have been asked whats the deal with it. Well, by Alpha we mean that this is the first snapshot of our new lineup. It contains lots and lots of bugs and is under HEAVY developement. So want you to report any bugs and/or suggestions you have in our new support section: http://groovedown.me/support-forums/ You dont need to register yourself to post, so feel free to leave your feedback.
Speaking of new section: we are also introducing our roadmap http://groovedown.me/roadmap/. While its still empty, we will use it to keep you up to date with features/bugfixes in upcoming release. They will be seperated by urgency for bugs, and priority for features. Top prioritised features are to 100% showing up in the release, while others may or may not be implemented.
The releasecycle is another important thing you may want to hear about. Well, in the past the releasedates where very sporadic. As already anounced, we are going for a monthly release. Of course we cant promise anything ( as for the 0.70 release ), but there shouldnt be more than one or two days delay, if any.
So, what can our released version do today?
Its larger, its resizable. You can search for Songs as well as for Artists, Albums and Playlists. To do so you dont need to enter your searchterm again, but simply navigate over the tables by the buttons. You are able to expand and include Artists, Albums and Playlists. We call these categories ‘container’. You can select single Songs from each container, or add all Songs of it. Adding/Removing songs, expanding/including containers should be selfexplaining, but a demo video will follow in the helpsection.
Something alot of users asked for are parallel downloads. GrooveDown 0.70 provides them, you can download as much songs at the same time as your computer and bandwidth can handle! Just switch to Settings and choose your prefered amount. Your changes are saved by selecting another tab.
What will happen next?
As you will notice, there are still alot of bugs ( well, its an alpha ) and anomalies, we are going to kill. Our goal for the 0.7.1 release next month is to make GrooveDown more stable, and to add as feature the ‘User Section’. As today, you can only search for you playlist by name and hope to find it. In 0.7.1 you will be able to log in to your Grooveshark account, and to browse your library and playlists, and to download from them. For more detailed infos about upcoming releases, check our roadmap.
Of course, we want to thank YOU for your great support and patience. You are our biggest motivation, and we will improve the quality of groovedown to make you as happy as we can.
We also wan to thank GrooveShark, for their great service. Get a grooveshark plus account, and support them even more than you support us.
